This month, we feature Anne Berry who is the ex officio council member representing UC Santa Barbara graduate students at UCGPC.

The UC Graduate and Professional Council (UCGPC) is a community of graduate and professional students representing the interests of UC students across various disciplines and campuses. One of the significant benefits of being a part of UCGPC is that students can participate in multiple programs and events that promote student advocacy and community building. One of the essential features of UCGPC is its council members, elected by the graduate student body to represent their interests and advocate for their needs.

Anne Berry is a council member of UCGPC who represents the University of California Santa Barbara graduate students. Anne is a Vice President of External for UCSB, UCOP, and the Democratic Central Committee for District 3. She has a keen interest in policy and leadership in education and is passionate about cultural activism and social justice. Apart from this, Anne is also interested in blogging, reading, music, poetry, and traveling.

Anne’s advocacy interests include housing issues, climate change, basic needs, and DACA. As a council member, Anne hopes to gain support for the student’s educational needs through educational policy and state and federal laws. She believes that her role is to stand up for what is right and fair and to help support changes that will impact the needs of students beyond the campus.

As a council member of UCGPC, Anne Berry urges fellow graduate students to participate in the various programs and events offered by UCGPC. According to her, these programs provide an excellent opportunity for students to advocate for their interests, build their communities, and gain valuable skills. By connecting and participating in UCGPC programs, students can enrich their academic experience and make a difference in their communities. Anne believes graduate students can create a more just and equitable world. Therefore, she encourages all graduate students to get involved and join UCGPC’s efforts to promote student advocacy and community building.
