Example Impact of the survey: The 2021 UC Graduate Student Experience Survey covers various aspects of graduate and professional student experiences at the University of California. Advising emerged as a top priority area for students and campuses to focus on. Around 80% of graduate students were satisfied with the mentorship and advising they received during the 2020-2021 academic year. Advising satisfaction varied by student characteristics, with transgender, non-binary, and genderqueer-identified students reporting the lowest satisfaction. Satisfaction with mentorship and advising were linked to better engagement, timely degree completion, positive career prospects, and reduced depressive symptomology.
