Gabrielle (Gabbie) Peñaranda is a part-time PhD student in the Politics Department at UC Santa Cruz. Her research focuses on spatial politics and health. In her professional work, Gabbie works as a Program Manager for the Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) where her work focuses on advocating for the health of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islander.

Gabbie holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy from San Diego State University and a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Cal Poly Pomona. Gabbie has always been interested in understanding how people advocate to improve their wellbeing. She was inspired by her colleagues at UCSC, where many students are active in various groups that seek to improve the experience of UCSC’s students. As EVP, her main goals are to strengthen UCSC’s GSA internal and external relationships.
